The Print Project

Posted on April 12, 2013

this is a pretty wordy post, especially considering most of my posts are mainly photos. bear with me and stick with it because in the end you have the opportunity to help humanity and get a pretty print while you are at it!

this is my friend casey.

(casey, i stole your profile pic off facebook. hope ya don’t mind.)

casey has a heart for the people of ukraine and russia and will soon be moving to donetsk, ukraine. casey’s mission is dear to my heart not only because he is a friend and college classmate, but because my heart is especially tender to the life of the orphan. casey will be serving, ministering to, and offering hope and a new path to the social orphans living on the streets and in the sewers of eastern ukraine. you read that correctly, LIVING IN THE SEWERS. the statistics for the future of these precious kiddos is heartbreaking to say the least. well over half of the boys will wind up in prison, many, many of the girls in prostitution and a chunk of them will take their own lives because the journey is just too hard to handle.

enter casey. he plans to take to the streets of ukraine and love these kids, show them jesus and teach them a little soccer, as well. you can read more about his ministry and keep up with him here.

upon hearing about casey’s trip and the ministry he would be doing that is so close to my heart, i knew i had to do something to contribute to his work. as you can imagine, packing up and moving across the world for the next 4 years requires a certain amount of funds. i was given a very clear vision of how to use my gifts as a way to help raise funds for the orphans of ukraine. and that was by creating some printable artwork to gift to people who make a donation to casey’s fund. and then i remembered oh yeah my sister is way more talented in the area of graphic design than me. so i pulled her on board as well.

 moving on to the pretties…

More the Merrier – by SwellMail Designs

these little russian matryoshka dolls were inspired by casey’s heart for the russian people.

Hosanna 1 – by beth marie

these words from the song hosanna by hillsong have been my constant prayer as of late. a happy accident was that i designed this print to look like the ukrainian flag and i didn’t even know what their flag looked like until casey told me.

True Religion – by beth marie

this verse is a theme of my prayers as well as a theme of casey’s work so it made perfect sense to use it for a print.

Full of Yourself – by SwellMail Designs

Hosanna 2 – by beth marie

HERE ARE THE DETAILS OF HOW TO GET YOURSELF ONE

In order to allow myself to keep up with the emails i am asking for a minimum donation of $15 to receive a print. obviously, feel free to donate as much or as little as you want. but for every $15 you donate i will email you an 8×10 sized pdf file of your choice (up to the 5prints i have designed).

once you receive the file(s) you may print the files or use them however you wish. but maybe don’t sell them. that would be kind of uncool. and by maybe i mean, please don’t.

So here’s what you need to do:

1. donate to casey jones’ fund through world venture (his mission agency) here.

2. you will receive a receipt for your donation via email.

3. forward that email to me at beth [at] bethmariephotography [dot] com with the subject: print project. In the body of the email include the name of the print(s) you wish to have me send to you and i will get it back to you ASAP.

I’m going to give this little project a 2 week time frame so please make your donations and send me your emails by Friday 4/26/13 at midnight.

**edited to change the date as i originally wrote the 19th which was only one week. whoops.

last but not least! Please share this link with all of your friends. I’d love to see Casey fully funded as soon as possible so he can start changing the lives of the people of ukraine.

children

Posted on April 9, 2013

i always wanted to be a teacher growing up. i made seating arrangements and passed out homework to all of the stuffed animals i could find. i like kids. kids and i “get each other”.

the teaching thing wasn’t part of my future for various reasons but i am so happy to get to use my gift and current career to hang out with kids every now and again and help their parents remember them at any given age in their life’s story.

here are a few of the children shots i got over the last year. remember i’m just catching up from my really long blogging break.

i photographed the h family on an “adventuring” session. over the summer. it was super fun and we got so many great photos of this sweet family who i have photographed too many times to search for all the links. they’ve since added a third little fella to their troop and are due for some new photos! there were so many keepers from this fun and out of the box session, but this little brother shot was probably my favorite.

this is jude. he is 18 months and, well his cuteness speaks for itself.

here’s another sweet brothers shot.

and last but not least sweet mr.c. i just noticed i picked all boys. hmm..we might have to do a girl post soon!

babies.

Posted on April 7, 2013

i think i get the privilege of photographing the tulsa area’s cutest babies. seriously though, i have gotten the privilege of taking some adorable babies photos this last year. here are just a few:

this is baby c at 9 months. i showed his newborn photo off a few days ago.

up next is my “nephew” baby mac. here he is as a tiny little newborn.

and here he is 6 months later.

here’s baby liam’s one year old photos, i photographed him in his mama’s belly and as a newborn.

oh and sweet archer. i must make a confession. i often find newborn photo session, while very rewarding, equally difficult.  i really strive to make my photos look less posed and more lifestyle. newborns are the hardest to photograph while both looking natural and “birth announcement worthy”. that’s just my opinion, of course. this session was one that if i had been faithful blogging when i took these i would have blogged every photo. it went perfectly. it was my favorite newborn session to date. anyway long story short: i decided to include a few favorites from that session.

catching up

Posted on April 6, 2013

last year i pretty much gave up on blogging. it would surprise me if anyone out there were still subscribed to my dear blog because i haven’t updated in almost a year, yikes! i’m sorry about the lack of updates! as business picked up and toddlers got older and needed more of my attention some things had to take a back seat and the poor old blog was one of them.

if you are a subscriber, sit back and prepare yourself as i will be updating with a photo from many of my sessions last year. just one photo and not even from all of the sessions, actually just from about half of them. i want  to get some updated stuff out here on the internets. starting off with this one selected at random.

meet baby c. he signed up for the baby plan and i will actually be photographing his 1st birthday party in just a few weeks. oh how he has grown!

chelsea, jason + baby

Posted on June 1, 2012

meet chelsea and jason and there little fella who made his appearance several months ago. i’m behind enough, i probably could’ve skipped blogging this session it’s from so long ago. december, i think? but it was one my favorites so: share, i will.

chelsea is my cousin, and the entire time i was editing these photos i couldn’t help but think, ‘my goodness, chelsea looks like her mama!’ especially so in this next one!

my favorite below.

i love, like more than love, LOVE photographing little ones. but it is always such a welcomed break to photograph a couple expecting their first baby. no children here on the outside to chase around. just calm, simple, most importantly no running, or acting silly to entice a smile from a shy little one. just taking it easy and getting to concentrate more on creative composition and poses. thanks for the welcomed break chelsea and jason! saying all of that to say, i wouldn’t trade photographing children for anything!

easter minis. part deux

Posted on May 30, 2012

and here a few more from the easter minis. including, as promised, what was probably the hardest photography gig i’ve scored yet. 7 cousins under the age of 7, all of them my relatives. agh! it was crazy. and fun. and i’m sooo happy with all the great images i got out of that hour of craziness!

this is what happened when i tried to get just one semi posed shot.

needless to say, i just gave up and chased 7 kids and 4 birds around the yard for a while!

hey stranger. remember easter?

Posted on May 29, 2012

well, i’m clearly a little behind from easter, but what’s new?

anyway i made the last minute decision to do lifestyle easter mini sessions. i am so happy that i made that decision. not only did i get the opportunity to help some of my favorite clients remember spring of 2012 in a very fun and real way, i got to photograph my babes and their cousins, all together in their easter garb, chasing ducks and chicks around.

anyway, on to the pretties.

and i’ll share some more, including my family in a post tomorrow. tomorrow, i promise!
